About Those Puppies

A lot of furor was unleashed yesterday over a section in the budget repair bill regarding humane societies and donations of dogs to animal research. Much as I am happy to blame Scott Walker for things he's actually done, this isn't one of them.

Budget Executive Summary - Read it and Scream

By now I'm sure you've watched the budget speech. My only comment is that it's pretty amazing how heavily packed the chamber seemed to be, and we're tracking down the various ruors about how that came about.  I've attached the executive summary of the budget, which is, I'm afraid, very much what the rumors for the past few weeks have said.  If Walker thinks that things will now cool down as he said in his speech, I think he's wrong.

The extreme cuts to essential services proposed by Gov. Walker today will damage Wisconsin residents and communities for generations to come.

 

Not only are his massive cuts to education and vital services harmful to the state’s future, they place an unfair burden on Wisconsin’s nurses, teachers, first responders and other public service providers.

The Governor's Budget

During his budget address, Governor Walker predicted the state would move forward under his new budget, and that once his budget repair bill is passed, the local governments around the state would be fine.  And everyone will calm down.

I don't think any of those things are going to work out as the Governor predicts.
